He read two newspapers every day, his local news and the New York - TopicsExpress

He read two newspapers every day, his local news and the New York Times and watched news TV most of the day. At night hed watch the local and national news including the BBC. Hed have long talks with his friends about the state of the world and how rotten and devious the American system had become, found out there was a Homeland Security agent working in his little town. He realized paranoia was the proper response to the situation. He stopped reading the papers and watching TV. Didnt share in conversation about the latest US atrocity or the conspiracy theories he once found so outlandish. He began to think that the US was capable of anything. He decided he was just along for the ride and that he could only take responsibility for himself. The threat of the planet being extinguished of all but a few wretched inhabits through violence sponsored by the US made him a kinder, gentler man. He enjoyed his morning coffee and the cool autumn air. What more was there to do? He figured it would take a global spiritual change to prevent the disastrous things that were rapidly coming about, the devastation and suffering worldwide and the probability of a fascist takeover here in America. There would be no global spiritual change and the horror would continue to escalate. Current religions played no role in solving the problems, only made them worse. He made a cup of coffee and truly hoped people would wake up to the fact that the government was now owned by big business, that a Dept. of Peace would make so much since in a sane and honest system. He turned for comfort to The Toa Te Ching and read: Trying to control the world? I see you wont succeed. The world is a spiritual vessel And cannot be controlled. Those who control, fail. Those who grasp, lose. Some go forth, some are lead, Some weep, some blow horns Some become strong, some superfluous, Some oppress, some are destroyed. Therefore the sage casts off extremes Casts off excess, Casts off extravagance In a while he made more coffee, heard crows in the distance, warning, pleading. He thought about how well off he was compared to so many others and knew he did not want to harm anyone and would like to think of a way to help. In the meantime all he had was his own behaviour to curb the madness he saw all around him.
