“He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth..” [Isaiah 53: 7]. There are so many elements of the Saviour’s experience that we do not come close to understanding or reasoning why He should He should have allowed Himself to go through. Yesterday we wondered that He was, “.. as a root out of a dry ground (having) no beauty that we should desire Him.” [2]. Here, we read that, “..He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth,”[7]. We are presented with the picture of absolute submission and of obedient resignation without protest. It is perfect humility, yet knowing His purpose and ultimate victory. When John the Baptist saw this humble figure walking towards him, he twice remarked, “Behold the Lamb of God,” also adding, “..who takes away the sin of the world.” [John 1: 29, 36]. We are redeemed, “.. with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and spot.” [1 Peter 1: 19]. And we remember Him this morning. https://youtube/watch?v=Zev5tHjCB_s
