He was undoubtedly one of the major players in southern soul and early 60s R&B. His was a very good songwriter and his voice could melt butter. The great Otis Redding was born on this date in 1941. He died in a plane crash in December 1967, just 26 years old. His only chart-topping hit (Sitting on the) Dock of the Bay was released a few days after he died.
