Head of Peacebuilding Commission to visit Salone Chairman of the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), Justice M.E. Tolla Thompson, has informed political parties that the Chairman of the Sierra Leone Configuration of Peacebuilding Commission and Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations, Ambassador Guilaime Rishchynski, will visit the country from 25 to 27 February. During the visit, the Ambassador Rishchynski will meet with government officials and other national stakeholders, including political parties and international partners, to discuss the role of the Peacebuilding Commission in peace consolidation and capacity building of political parties in Sierra Leone. The envoy, Justice Thompson stated, will also discuss programmes funded by the Peace Building Fund in Sierra Leone and the need for continued support to political parties after the withdrawal of UNIPSIL on 31st March this year. Discussions around the importance of activities funded by the Peace Building Fund formed the highpoint of the meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Peace and Liberation Party (PLP), Revolutionary United Front Party (RUFP), Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Citizens Democratic Party (CDP), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the United Democratic Movement (UDM).
