Headed to one of my favorite places on earth today.....the retreat where many of my childhood summer memories are tucked away.....Mountain Lake Colony in Cleveland, SC. Lots of folks I love will be there for our annual Massey Family Reunion. My favorite great-aunt in whose home we are gathering will celebrate her 83rd birthday next week. She is insisting on doing all of the cooking for the 50+ family members attending. Just wow! I hope I got some of her genes. 😊 We will play Parcheesi, churn ice cream, laugh at the Green Monkey Award recipient (please dont let it be me.....again!), and write our names on our styrofoam cups. Today I am Lydia Bell (the double name of my childhood) to distinguish me from the other 2 Lydias present. What can I tell you? My great-grandmother, Mamaw (Lydia the first) was a special woman. At least 5 of us bear her name somewhere in there. Hope I got some of her genes, too. 😊
