Heading out for a drink during the weekend? Here are 5 of Sydneys most spectacular places for a beer or cocktail 1) Mojo Record Bar- From my knowledge and the amount of people gathering at this place, it is one of the most well known places to visit with your mates after work or on a night out. Lets put it this way; some bars have great cocktails and some bars are extremely comfortable but this place ticks all the boxes.. With great staff accompanying you, an atmosphere that feels genuine and an amazing range of drinks to choose from. LOCATION: 73 York Street, Sydney. 2) Bulletin Place bar- Combining the charm of a hidden small bar with bartenders that really know what they are doing this place has a comfy chill/laidback atmosphere. If cocktails arent your fancy, wine by the glass is available but expect only three or four choices: the small selection is opened on the night rather than hanging about for days. Likewise a few beers are available. On the food side, some dishes can be ordered in from Tapavino next door, but these are limited to snack types such as almonds and hummus with bread. This place is ideal for catch ups, after work and off course dates. LOCATION: 1st Floor, 10-14 Bulletin Place, Sydney 3) Gilt Lounge- If you’re looking for sharp-shooting inner-city cocktails made with snap, you’ve found ’em. Gilt Bar is the feather in the cap of QT – the city’s newest boutique hotel. Theirs is a menu heavy on the brown spirits and bitters. The Hudson – rye, Fernet Branca, peach bitters and a little flamed orange twist – is surprisingly light on, especially compared to the Maple Fizz, an unctuous mix of Sazerac rye, Benedictine and maple-flavoured foam, finished with swirls of chocolate and black walnut bitters. LOCATION: 49 Market St, Sydney NSW 2000 4) Bar Pacifica- Bar Pacifica is the rather awesome rooftop bar at The Eastern. Formerly the Bondi Junction Hotel, this venue’s new incarnation is far more glamorous, both in design and atmosphere, something borne out in its eating and drinking spaces.Their signature drink, the Chesterfield, is a summery and refreshing blend of cranberry, apple and vodka, and there’s live acoustic music or DJ sessions most nights, giving the place a hip, relaxed vibe that’s very attractive indeed. LOCATION: 500 Oxford St Bondi Junction NSW 2022, Sydney 5) Black Bar- The Black Bar is a classic in the making. Go to the harbour side entrance of The Star and you might find yourself thinking you’ve stepped back into another era entirely. Cocktails are barrel-aged and they hand chip their own ice (but then what serious cocktail bar these days doesn’t?) There’s a focus on house made ingredients with a seasonal twist, with an emphasis on quality and skilful preparation. One things for sure, it’s the drinks that will keep you coming back. LOCATION: Harbourside Entrance, The Star, Pirrama Road, Pyrmont, NSW 2009
