Heading to Blyth in a few short hours for the summer! Im turning 40 with the festival this year!! What an honour it is to be spending time with this great group of artists again, as part of the festivals 40th anniversary season. Tomorrow we start rehearsals on Marion de Vries new musical Kitchen Radio (runs June 25 - August 9). Directed by my pal, Kelli Fox, with music directed (and co-written) by David Archibald. This is Marions first season as Artistic Director, Kellis first full production as director, and Davids first time playing guitar (one of those statements is not 100% true). Also, Ill be playing Marion Days husband for the first time (I say first because I hope to play her husband again in this lifetime.) AND THEN - Ill be in Mark Crawfords new play (his first! another first!), Stag and Doe (July 30 - September 6). ...this will be the third time that Ive played Rebecca Auerbachs ex-boyfriend (weve managed to turn our mutual distaste for each other into art). I look forward to it all. Especially breakfast. I dont think that there is another theatre out there that starts the first rehearsal day with a big-ass, country breakfast. 5 words: Mac and cheese bacon tarts. Mmmm... delicious theatre. Please come visit us in Blyth this summer. Well be having a party until they kick us out of town.
