Heading to the Macomb County circuit court in downtown Mt Clemens to support my friend Matt B Blumke who is a good guy that made some really dumb decisions and is now being sentenced o prison today after his recent conviction of assault by strangulation when he and his girlfriend Erin Henry got into a domestic dispute where they both apparently were violent but Matt put us arm around her head and neck like a choke hold and didnt let her leave their apartment during the fight causing the prosecution to charge him with attempt at murder and unlawful imprisonment. Because of the mistakes he made when he was 20 years old over a decade ago they are trying to sentence him as a habitual offender thus giving him anywhere from 6 years to life in prison. Matt should have walked away from this girl the first time she cheats on him or smacked him in front of his friends or assaulted him at home or crawled up his ass for hugging an old friend of his who was a female at my sons first birthday party, but he didnt. He stuck around and hoped things would get better. After a drunken argument one night where she allegedly hit him with a shower rod after a heard argument. He lost his temper. Wrestled her to the ground and had his arm around her head and neck causing some difficulty breathing. No hitting or punching but as she fought back he bit her causing more injury. When the police arrived she refused any medical attention at all and even had a smile on her face in one of the police photos. When the prosecution told her they were going to charge him with attempt at murder all of a sudden she needed all this medical attention a day later. Her bloodshot eyes from crying were used to try to prove that he strangled her and tried to kill her. When in fact her eyes were more bloodshot two days earlier at my kids birthday party. In court all the played up drama on her part was so over exaggerated that there wasnt a single tear on her face even though she was making the sound of someone sobbing for almost an hour. Hey, what matt did was wrong,she pushed and pushed and pushed his buttons and he finally snapped and lost control which in my pinion SHOULD of landed him in jail that night and maybe for a month or two. He has now been in jail for almost a year and is now looking at 6-15 years with the possibility of life in prison. Killers usually get less time and my friend is no killer. I hope the judge has mercy on him this morning and his friends show up to help support him. He did wrong but does not deserve what he is about to get.
