Headlines By : Our Staff Reporter VA disapproves IMPHAL, Sep 5: The Khangshim Village Authority has expressed serious concern over the recent show cause notice by the SDM Kakching to the bonafide householders of Khangshim village who have been paying annual hill house tax since 1975 as a recognised village under SDM, Machi, Chandel district. A statement issued by the chairman of Khangshim VA, Khaling Mission said that the villagers have their due share in allotment of the village land within the village jurisdiction and none of them encroached NH-39. As all villagers are within the jurisdiction of the village, there is no State Sarkari Khas Land within the Khangshim village under the revenue district of Chandel. Strongly denying the allegation made in the Govt order, the VA statement said that the very existence of village residential houses as well as shopping huts did not cause any sort of unlawful obstruction or nuisance in any form to the general public at any point of time. Since all houses of the village were constructed after leaving considerable distance from the NH-39 footpath, there is no question of creating public nuisance, it asserted. The seven-day show cause notice served on Aug 31 was against tribal customary law and other existing laws, it said while adding that the notice issued by SDM Kakching, Thoubal district to villagers who are under the jurisdiction of SDM, Machi, Chandel district is uncalled for. It further appealed the State to ensure peace and security in the village, protect and promote human rights and prevent any public nuisance to the peace loving tribal villagers in the days to come
