Heads up and eyes to the sky.. 8:17 PM CST Thursday 31 July 2014 Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for: R.M. of Spiritwood including Spiritwood and Leoville R.M. of Big River including Big River and Chitek Lake R.M. of Meadow Lake including Waterhen Res. Updated or ended by 10:31 p.m. CST. At 8:17 p.m. CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and dime to nickel size hail. An intense thunderstorm has developed over the Meadow Lake Provincial forest and is moving southeastward at 30 km/h. This thunderstorm is not expected to affect the town of Meadow lake. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.
