Heads up, friends in Michigan...Winter may not release us without a fight! There is a potential for a major winter storm to hit on Wednesday. The latest models have the storm that prompted the local NWS to issue winter storm watches south and east of me may be forced to expand those areas overnight or tomorrow moving further north than indicated earlier. Earlier indications were only a couple of inches of new snow. That may be out the window and replaced with a very heavy snowfall amount for this time of year: 9-14 possible! Taking into account the NAM and GFS models differing in snow amount totals, though. The snow will start tomorrow night after dark and continue for at least 24 hours. Depending on the model solution, folks along and north of the I-69 corridor may be slammed with 1-2 per hour rates. That said, I remind folks that this is NOT set in stone and we may not get this amount of snow at all. This is a heads-up for the potential for a heavy snow event, but, not a guarantee. I do expect that NWS will have to extend their winter headlines, whether they want to or not.
