Heads up that the early submission deadline to the Laughing Devil Festival in NYC is today. Tomorrow, the fee goes up by $15, so if youre going to submit, nows the best time. If youre unfamiliar, the DevilFest is a competition with $2500 in cash prizes, as well as weeks of work at road clubs. In addition to their competition spots, competitors get satellite shows at various NYC clubs, and the vast majority of shows are always packed. Competitors are challenged to not repeat material - which stretches newer comedians, and causes the veterans to dig deep. Past industry judges include reps from Comedy Central, A&E, NY1, National Lampoon, 3 Arts, IFC, MTV, Animal Planet, and more. Casting directors, agents, managers, and media are in attendance, and past winners include Michael Lawrence, Brian Scott McFadden, and Drew Michael. Anyway, its a damn fun week of NYC comedy, and the networking opportunities are wonderful. If youre interested, register at festivalregistration (And do so today before it gets more expensive). Hugs.
