Health Care Assistant Certificate Program - Selkirk College Starts September 2013 In order to meet program interest and employer needs Selkirk College’s Health Care Assistant certificate program will be offering an additional 10 seats for the Fall 2013 delivery. These additional seats will be reserved for students from the north portions of the College region who are more closely situated to classroom space in Nakusp and practicum locations in Nakusp, Kaslo and New Denver. All students will complete 2 theory courses online. The Nakusp cohort will complete the remainder of the theory courses on the Nakusp campus in a face-to-face setting, the lab course in the Arrow Lakes Hospital, and practice in various communities and facilities in the local area. The other students will complete face-to-face theory and lab courses on the Trail campus and practice in various communities and facilities in the local area. In order to accommodate additional planning, provision of practicum placements, and pre-requisite preparation of students the starting time frame of the program will shift from September 9, 2013 to September 30, 2013. As the program is twenty six weeks in length it will conclude in late March, 2014. In order to support students from the northern portions of the region to complete their pre-requisites Selkirk College has made arrangements to provide additional access to ABE instruction on the Nakusp campus.
