Health Care Experts from around the world told a Senate panel this week that health care systems in other countries outperform the United States’ complicated and expensive private system. Dr. Danielle Martin, a physician and health policy professor from Toronto, countered what the Los Angeles Times called Sen. Richard Burr’s “I-dont-need-no-stinkin-facts approach to health policy.” The physician called out the American system’s failure to treat 45,000 who die each year because they lack health insurance.
