Health, Safety & Environment Officer Oil States MCS Limited, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria We are seeking an experienced HSE Officer to provide support to the QHSE Department. Reporting to the QHSE Manager the role requires the individual to manage, implement and promote the company HSE program for the Barrow facility by performing the following duties and establishing working relationships with other departments, suppliers, contractors, customers and other interested parties. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Manage the HSE program to achieve facility and corporate objectives and targets. • Establish/review/improve existing HSE procedures/systems to maintain compliance to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 by a UKAS accredited organisation. • Carry out Risk Assessments for both Safety and Environmental activities and ensure implementation of identified safeguards • Conduct and supervise incident investigations, accident prevention programs, and the preparation of reports for record keeping. • Maintain incidents records, conduct incident/safety trend analysis, and report performance measurements to upper management on regular frequencies. • Administer waste material handling, storage, disposal, recycling, and waste minimization opportunities. • Coordinate/conduct safety audits and inspections. • Maintain relations with customers and assume lead role in representing company during customer HSE audits. • Conduct and/or facilitate safety orientations and meetings with employees, contractors and customers. • Oversee development and implementation of Emergency Action Plans (EAP), Spill Prevention Control and other facility safety plans/updates. Qualification & experience requirements: • Oil & Gas and/or Heavy Engineering background preferred. • 5 years relevant HSE professional experience. • NEBOSH Diploma and/or NVQ level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety • NEBOSH or IEMA Environmental qualification • IOSH and/or IEMA membership preferable. • Experience of developing and implementation of safety/training programs and procedures would be an advantage. • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office.
