Health, supplementation and Exercise whilst being pregnant Hello lovely people, Pregnancy has been kicking my butt of late. Going into the 35th week made me hit a tired brick wall! I am happy to report the last two days I have been radiating energy and smiles again :). My cargo is now weighing in at around 6.6/7lbs, and packing on the puppy fat ready for birth! Training and Health Vitamin B I have been incredibly lucky throughout my pregnancy. I suffered no morning sickness. I truly believe this is because over the past two years I have been using a supplementation containing vitamin B. A shortage in Vitamin B is believed to be linked to morning sickness. Please read: babycenter/404_does-vitamin-b6-help-relieve-morning-sickness_2519.bc Magnesium I have been plagued with insomnia on and off due to the changing hormones, but this has really been my only bind. I have found that taking a magnesium supplementation prior to bed has helped with muscle twitches and restless nights. I have also learnt not to get up tight and actually use it as an opportunity to read up on becoming a mum! Please read: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9703590 Always read labels and follow a health professionals advise Exercise wise I have been pretty consistent. I started off in the early days resting more than exercising. I tried to keep active by walking and stretching, but on days when I needed to sleep I just listened to my body. The second Trimester was amazing. I had so much energy and had no problem training. I adjusted my weights decreasing by half again, and increased my repetitions for maintenance. Moving into my third trimester, the bike, and cable machine have been my best friend. Training days have dropped off to 2 maybe three days a week maximum, and I opt for food and sleep needs firstly. Always seek advise from a fitness professional before exercising when pregnant and follow recommended health guidelines. Most importantly Ive been keeping anxiety at bay by attending an 1hr 30min pregnancy class most weeks, and by following Calm Beginnings Meditations for Hypnobirthing.
