Healthy Choices at 4th St. Food Store Farm-fresh organic eggs, Gosar sausage and tortillas from Center are among the new local products now available at the 4th Street Food Store. Coming this week are Colorado-grown tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes, plus an expanded selection of natural and organic grocery items, snacks, beverages, cookies AND more ice cream varieties. Area residents are encouraged to check out what is available at the 4th Street Food Store before driving long distances to purchase products not normally found in Saguache. Store managers are more than willing to special order your personal favorites, either in small quantities or by the case at wholesale plus 10%. Located inside the Welcome Center, at 404 4th St., the store is open from 10 am to 4 pm weekdays, and from 10 am to 3 pm on weekends. Supported by a Saguache County Sales Tax Grant, the 4th Street Food Store is a nonprofit project of Saguache Works, in partnership with ScSeed, the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition and the Saguache County Department of Social Services. Its goals are to support local food producers and to make healthy, local foods available and affordable to all residents. Regular donations are made to the Saguache County Food Bank.
