Healthy Lifestyles Week: Ahead of our HL Week next week, todays Inspiration is provided by Nurse Merchant from our medical centre: Even though I am being constantly inspired by my family with the small achievements they make each day at work and college, the person (or not the person) who inspires me most is my big, beautiful, ginger tom cat JUDE!!! Jude is a rescue cat (I chose him, or rather he chose me) from The Cats Protection League, after my old cat had to be put to sleep. It was a snowy day and he was sat on a pole, resplendent in his orangeness! He had been left behind when his previous owners had moved house. I could not resist, I had to have him. He came to live with me as a quiet, timid, frightened little cat. Now he rules the house. Jude has taught me many things since coming to live with me and my family. He has taught me patience (the mice he brings home and leaves on the doorstep are because he loves me). He has taught me unconditional love (even when he has been left out in the rain all day by accident). He has taught me to treat each time you see the same person as if it were the first time you have met them (he hurtles through the house to get to me when I come home). He inspired me to carry on through grief when my dad died. He sat on my knee all through that first night, when everyone else had gone to bed, just being there. Seeing Jude change from a timid, homeless, abandoned cat to the confident, playful ruler of our house, says that between us we have done something good. Either that or he hasn’t had a better offer yet from the house next door
