Healthy Strawberry - Lemon Water, a refreshing alternative to bottled water Flavored water is a healthy alternative to other beverages. By making your own flavored water, you reduce the amount of sugar you consume from sodas, juices, and other drinks. In addition, you also reduce the amount of caffeine you consume by replacing just a few glasses of water for caffeinated beverages, including coffee and tea. Before adding citrus fruit, be sure to remove the pith, the white part of the rind to keep your water from tasting bitter. Ingredients 5 -large, ripe strawberries 1/2 -lemon, sliced with rind removed 4 -mint leaves, rinsed and dried 64 oz. -cold tap or bottled water 1 In the bottom of a large pitcher, bruise the mint leaves with the back of a wooden spoon. 2 Slice the strawberries in half or quarters and add to the pitcher along with the sliced lemon. Pour the cold water over the fruit and mint. 3 Refrigerate for about two hours. You can also place the mixture in the freezer for one to two hours to make a slushy type of water. 4 Serve and enjoy.To serve this water to a large amount of guests, just double the ingredient amounts. You can also add different types of citrus fruits to experiment with different flavor combinations.
