Healthy Tip Tuesday: As my friend Cory would say, Lets call a spade a spade. Its hard to get REAL about the food we eat and sometimes we can find ourselves eating something that is MARKETED as if it is a BETTER option that the full fat/sugar/chemical/gluten version. How so you know if its actually better? Trust me - you already know. Is a low fat donut really BETTER than a full-fat donut? Or would a nutrient packed REAL FOOD be the BEST option? Is the sugary yogurt parfait at nearly 400 calories from the local drive-thru establishment really better than the chicken pieces or burger? Who are you REALLY fooling when you eat these substitutions or replacements and who is really missing out on good solid nutrient dense foods that nourish? Have you ever noticed that no one has to sell low-fat vegetables? How about diet chicken or fish? Dont be afraid to ask questions. It probably isnt better and will leave you hungry, craving sugar, and in the caloric hole. So, todays tip is to ask ourselves when we are tempted by something that is marketed as a better option...... is it truly best? Eat REAL food. Avoid food with marketing. Eat as many veggies as you care to, eat lean proteins, drink plenty if water, add in healthy fats. Your body will thank you!
