Hear And Obey “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, - TopicsExpress

Hear And Obey “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.” (Luke 6:46-49 NLT) It is important to develop the discipline and habit of hearing the Word of God. This comes through reading the Bible daily, reading Devotional material, and listening to the preaching of Gods Word. However, this parable teaches us that in order to have a solid foundation for our lives we must not only hear but obey (apply) it as well. We must learn to focus and pay attention to what the Word is saying to us personally and take whatever action steps that may imply. Gods Word must become a part of our lives in every aspect. Jesus clearly states that obedience is the proof of application. Lord Jesus help me be a doer of Your Word and not just a hearer. Give me ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to understand and apply what Your Holy Spirit is saying to me this day.
