Hear Our Oppressed Voice The plea of the family of Khaled Hardani to Ban Ki-moon, the secretary general of the United Nations Organization Honorable secretary general of the United Nations receive the greetings of a family whose only bread winner is in jail for more than 14 years under torture and mistreatment and illegal exile in Rejaii Prison in the city of Karaj; and during these painful, hopeless, and uncertain years have been under threat of death, torture, and physical attacks. They have manufactured various files so that he will not be able to defend his legal rights. They have harassed him many times and in these long years have not even given him an hour of leave to attend his mothers’ funeral, who died from the pain of not being able to see him. He has been charged with disrupting the security of flight by the attorney general. Because of Khaled’s refusal to attend an unlawful fabricated television interview, rogue forces condemned him to capital punishment; and despite the fact that Khaled’s defense attorney declared this a political verdict and asked for implementation of article 18, unfortunately the sham court, following the orders of the anti-law forces mentioned, ordered the execution of Khaled for Day of 1383 (December of 2004), which was stopped because of severe reaction from popular and human rights organizations and demand of Shahroody, the head of judiciary at the time. The influence of rogue forces was so great that despite opposition of the head of the judiciary and attorney general, although they pulled back from death sentence, but in an anti-human measure sentenced him to life in prison. While the representative of the general attorney declared in court, which its tape exists, clause 5 of the article relating to sentencing of the disrupters of flight security guarantees freedom of Khaled; but unfortunately the rogue and lawbreaker forces still will not refrain from their pertinacity, illegal, and anti-human stance in attempting to prevent the legitimate and legal freedom of this kind and caring father. Your excellency, considering the difficulties and hard times that Khaled and his family has gone through during these past long 14 years, we insistently ask you, as the supporter of the painful humanity, to demand Khaled’s unconditional release from the authorities of the Islamic Republic and to put an end to so much autocracy and unlawfulness, so that pains of a needy family will come to an end, so that the United Nation has acted up on its rights and responsibilities.
