Heard a great Native American creation story today. The great spirit was in a quandary as to how to connect all of his creation. The lowly worm spoke up and said I can help, the great spirit then said, what would you do? The worm replied I will form the silk thread from my gut, very fine, but very strong, you will only be able to see it in a certain light. I will connect everything the great spirit has created so that it is one. The great spirit was very pleased and told the worm, I will cause you to live forever because of your wisdom and service, but the worm was visibly afraid or uncomfortable. Dont you want to live forever said great spirit? I am afraid of not growing anymore replied the worm. The great spirit said, I know what we will do then, we will wrap you up in the thread that connects us all forming a cocoon, and after you grow into another form, you will be light and able to rise up to where I am.
