Heard that it is finally decided to stop Fipresci and Netpac - TopicsExpress

Heard that it is finally decided to stop Fipresci and Netpac awards for Malayalam cinema at IFFK this year. Minister said one month back that it will not be stop this year . But now it stopped .The reports said that instead of this, academy decided to give a special award to all Malayalam cinema selected this year. Interestingly they declared that 3 more films are included for the award consideration. These 3 films are those which screened at last year IFFK and which are not released so far. These academy give good reasons for laughing us. ...ha ha ha. It seems funny and foolishness. Not any festival in any country will consider the movies which screened or applied for selection in previous edition to the current one. If the previous movies couldnot able to release so far then the academy and government should give them the government theaters for release. That is the way to handle. How can you include some movies from last festival to this year and allow to compete with this years films. Its a clear evidence of vested interest, corruption, personal affairs; non transparent way of selection without any criteria. Shame on academy for making IFFK to a most un proffessional and un democratic event with many recent issues and fuedalistic aproaches and one sided decisions. Stoping Fipresci and Netpac award, Trying to implement censorship for the viewers, Backdoor entry for previously screened films, Reducing number of theaters, English knowledge for audience etc...etc...are some examples. And most shocking things is that academy chairman said that Fipresci and Netpac awards given to Malayalam cinema so far has not any value. Its just a paper and it has not any value or worth. If so, I think it is not point to keep the Netpac award which I got earlier in my showcase from today. So I am seriously thinking to give back this valueless certificate to academy.
