Hearing and Obeying God - A Personal Experience #2 Hmm! I almost - TopicsExpress

Hearing and Obeying God - A Personal Experience #2 Hmm! I almost ignored the voice of God that Sunday afternoon. With my bible on my right hand, I had gone out for personal envangelism. As I was walking down a street, I heard a voice in my spirit, Preach to this woman. I turned and saw a woman with her daughter standing at the front of their building discussing. This woman appear to be a Christian, so why should I preach to her? I questioned myself. She even appear more of a Christian than I am. Let me go and preach to other people who I think are sinners. I concluded. As I moved forward, the voice came again, this time I became restless. What do I have to say? I question the voice. This woman is almost the age of my mother, I cant be bold enough to talk to her. But the Holy Spirit was not even ready to let me leave that scene. The woman and her daughter may have wondered why I was looking at them yet I was not saying anything. Before I knew it, there was a kind of force that moved me into walking towards where they were standing. Good evening ma, I greeted. I have come to share the gospel to you. I began sharing the gospel the little way I could, after about five minutes, I was done. I told her I was going, but she refused letting me go. Now, it was her turn to preach for me, as if what I preached was not perfect enough. Young man, She began, you gave us food without telling us how to eat it. I mean, you told us our problems, without telling us the way out. Why? I was almost melting, I didnt understand her question, so she had to come out plain. I mean, you told us about our sins, but you failled to lead us to Christ, neither did you tell us that Jesus is the way out of a sinful life. Hearing this, I was no longer myself, I knew this woman was a good Christian, but the Holy Spirit wouldnt let me be. This I said in my mind. Well, I have to humble myself before her, instead of answering a question that was bigger than me at my level then. So I began to confess, Please ma, I just gave my life to Jesus Christ, I dont know how to evangelise that much, just that I wanted to preach to people who are not yet saved. Pardon me that I didnt lead you to Christ after my message. She smiled, and then told me some certain things I needed to know about evangelism, thereafter, she went inside, brought out two books by Gbile Akanni, and handed them over to me for free. Wow! I was surprised. I went to preach to her, she is now the one teaching me how to preach, with two free books to bless my life. I would have missed it, if not that I obeyed the voice of God. All these, God did, in answering my prayer of who I should follow as a mentor. After our discussion, I didnt even border to continue the evangelism, I just went home to read those books, (Costly assumption, and Battle for the young) and I was blessed. As if God was not satisfied with His leading, He made this sister to invite me for a conference which was organised by Gbile Akanni, I managed to attend, and while Bro Gbile Akanni was ministering, I was broken with his message, that I gave my life to Christ again and again. In the course of that, I heard God speaking to my spirit that day, This is the man I want you to learn from, follow His teachings, and apply them into your life and articles. Ever since then, my mentality changed for the best, my pattern of teaching and writing was greatly influenced positively. Today, he is my mentor, my teacher, and a father. Though he is far from me, but his messages, are opening my eyes and ears to Gods word everytime I hear them. This is what you benefit from God when you hear and obey His voice. If not, you will think you are working for God, but you are actually working for yourself. And when you are working for yourself, trust the devil, fame, money, and self glory will be your pursuit, instead of doing everything to please God and glorify His name. Let me stop this series here, I believe the message has been passed. ***Free to Share*** Your Brother, Edebatu Emeke Love
