Hearing the horror at Fort Hood today, hearing that the shooter - TopicsExpress

Hearing the horror at Fort Hood today, hearing that the shooter was known to have a closed head injury (but not considered a wounded warrior), was being treated/medicated for depression and anxiety, evaluated...a lengthy process for PTSD. I say shame on us for it taking so long for him to get help...but thats not what I am posting about now...it just brings it to mind tonight. Closed head injury is just as serious as an open head injury...in some cases worse, the brain swells and is severely injured. Especially untreated. They do not just happen in war, my friends, they happen with meningitis, in all contact sports, relatively minor auto accidents, etc.....but they are not something to ignore, deny as an injury because they can rise up later in so many ways...seizures, depression, erratic and aggressive behaviors. Just because it didnt bleed doesnt mean it wasnt seriously wounded. Just saying... with lots of experience.
