Heart breaking and heart warming morning. Im doing the speuter run for BAM today and when I was at Best Friends clinic dropping off the 4-leggeds, an older gentleman came in who needed to have his dog euthanized. He was really struggling, so I stayed with him through the process. He wanted to know about having his dog buried at BF, which is pretty expensive if you arent an employee. He lived in his van with the dog and was waiting for his social security check so he could fix his van and continue his travels, but was willing to use that money when he got it to bury Girl. The vet who euthanized her is paying for the burial for him...how cool is that?! I took him to the cemetery so he could see what a beautiful place it was and in the event he wanted to visit there while he was still in town. We had coffee and a nice visit. He swears he isnt getting another dog because this part is so painful, but I hope he changes his mind. I feel blessed to have been able to be there for him and for the compassion of the staff today.
