Heart of a Warrior – “God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.” Psalm 46:1 Some days the news and activities around the world is very troubling. Whether there are natural catastrophes, civil unrest or foreign countries that threaten our homeland, there is something that causes us to wonder about our safety and wonder about the uncertainty of our children’s future. I remember my parents talking about the assassination of JFK, the Vietnam War and watching TV as a little boy, when President Nixon resigned his position as president due to scandals and lies. I am sure my parents were wondering the same thing…what is this world coming to? Every family, every mom and dad wonders about the future for themselves and their and their children. What is the best way to plan for you and your family? The best way to answer that question is to realize what is in your control and what is not in your control. The things that are out of our control, are the very things that were written in Psalm 46, “though the earth trembles and the mountains topple into the depths of the seas, though its water’s roar and foam…Nations rage, kingdoms topple, the earth melts.” These things are definitely out of our control. Here is the great thing, we control our response to even the worst of circumstances, “Therefore we will not be afraid”. That is good news, and the only way to proclaim that good news for yourself and proclaim that good news for your family and friends is this, “God is our refuge and strength in times of trouble”. God is the one to look too for all your fears to be put to rest, “The God of Host is with us.” So if you are looking for a secure place for you and your family to be secure, when the outside forces of this world are in chaos and the future looks uncertain. God is that place. Realize that God provides a resting place with His strength and His love for you. “the God of Jacob is our stronghold.” God is our mighty fortress and always a present help in the times we live. Stand strong and fear not, our strength is in Him.SDG28-DAD 8-19-14
