Laurie, and her husband Michael, founded the Florida Ballet Theatre at Jacksonville, and in those early days the company was truly amazing: classically trained dancers doing experimental, fresh and exciting work. Laurie could, in one breath, be aggravating and glorious as she never wavered from her eye-on-the-ball focus on artistic excellence, her dancers and her students.
