Heat wave continues in Kashmir despite heavy downpour on Sunday night; more rain predicted in next 24 hours ;;;;; Srinagar: There was still no respite from the humid and hot weather in Kashmir valley, where light to moderate rain was recorded on Sunday night. A Met department spokesman on Monday said that moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers would occur at many places in Jammu division and light rain and thundershowers at isolated places over Kashmir division during the next 24 hours. There would be no large change in the weather during the subsequent four days, he said. People had brief relief after light to moderate rain late last night in Kashmir valley, including the summer capital, Srinagar, here both maximum and minimum temperatures remained above normal. However, later people felt almost restless as the weather turned more humid after the rain. Though sun was playing hide and seek on Monday, but humid and hot weather continued to trouble the people. The Met spokesman said the maximum temperature was recorded 32.6 degree in the summer capital, Srinagar, which was three degree above normal. Srinagar was hottest than Jammu, because of rain there. He said the minimum temperature was 20.7 degree, also three notches above normal in the city despite 0.8 mm rainfall during Sunday night. There could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 31 degree and 21 degree respectively during the next 24 hours, he said. Light rain or thundershowers are expected in Leh in Ladakh region where the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 29 degree and 19 degree respectively. #muzii
