Heather and I rode the Tour de Tonka today. What a fantastic event! Its the third year weve ridden it and this year there were 3100 riders total. 800 of them did the 100 mile route with us. This is a fully supported ride with rest stops, traffic control/safety, food and even live music along the way. Part of the money raised goes to a local food shelf. Heather and I completed the 100 miles (160K) in 6 hours and 2 minutes with and average speed of 17.3 miles per hour. Our best performance yet! Once you get out of town the route takes you through beautiful rolling country hills on roads that hardly ever see a car. On these roads pace lines and closely packed group riding are the way to go. Theres really nothing like speeding along at 25 miles an hour in the slipstream of 20 other riders without a car in sight. Such a rush!
