Heavenly Father, I have always believed that You created - TopicsExpress

Heavenly Father, I have always believed that You created everything in the universe. The same is true about Your sovereign power to rule and sustain everything. When I was a child I also believed in Santa Clause and his toy factory at the North Pole. When I stopped believing in the tales about the sleigh and his eight tiny reindeer, I still believed in You. Prayer was never personal because I didn’t see myself as having a relationship with You. I had a few memorized prayers that my mother taught me but when I went to church, I never really learned a lot about You. I always enjoyed singing hymns and being part of a choir but it was for the music more than for the meaning behind the words I sang. I also enjoyed singing in the school choir and the harmonic sound that it produced. When I started following Jesus, something supernatural happened because I saw myself as a part of something mystically alive and I developed a hunger to know more about You and Your Kingdom. In the beginning, I learned things about You through the systematized theology of the people I was in fellowship with and the books I read. Gradually I went outside the boundaries of what I had learned and opened myself up to a lot of other ideas about You. Some of the paths I went down led to a dead end and I trashed many of concepts and philosophies I learned. But one thing has always remained a core foundation of my faith and that is that I can trust You to sovereignly watch over and care for me, my family and my friends. 1 Samuel 12:22-25 For the sake of His great name the LORD will not reject His people, because the LORD was pleased to make you His own. As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. But be sure to fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things He has done for you.” Psalm 37:25 “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.”
