Heavy day for me. Today is the 70th anniversary of my namesake uncles sacrifice on this second day of The Battle of the Bulge. I have tried to mend the wound left by his absence. My mother was unable to, right to the end. I wanted to go to the battle site five years ago and even today but knowing I would be by myself, I just wasnt able to gather the inner courage to be there to pay a tribute to him on that hallowed ground in the Ardennes. I have shared a few crafted poems over the years dedicated to him and will likely try to pick up the pen again at least once today. So many wonder where all my passion comes from to help others and take up major social causes. Well, now you know one of the key people who inspire me. A letter from a president, a name on a wall, a framed photo. Billy, the loss of your life is so much more than a memory.
