Heavy frost this morning, youd think it had snowed. My hopeful design for keeping the animals water buckets from freezing, greeted me with a thin layer of ice that I had to poke through to the water. Looks like 2 water changes a day now for them all. Oh and the chickens! The evidence of the rain storm that blew through here was first noted there. The hay I cut, for them, dried, gathered and stacked against the side of the coop, got a dose of wet on one side. I had laid poles over their hay and covered it with a tarp and then plastic. Both (tarp & plastic were shredded like strips of paper. The coop door was frozen shut at the bottom, I could barely pull it open enough to let me in or them out. This wont do for them winter!! Never said I was a carpenter but Ill fix it. The sun is shining and things are melting so Ill enjoy a power nap and wait until this afternoons warmth to hone new skills.
