Heavy water users to see rate hike December 23, 2014 By Mark Maroney, Williamsport Sun-Gazette Its time to put some budget money aside for water use and, if youre using a lot of it, plan to pay more per quarter. Customers of the Williamsport Municipal Water and Sanitary Authority using the most water will see increases in their quarterly rates starting Jan. 1, while others who dont use as much water will see a reduction in their bills, according to authority personnel. The rate structure change is for customers in the citys water and sanitary rate district, said Douglas Keith, authority staff executive director. On average, customers using 52,000 gallons of water per year pay $208 per quarter, said Jonathan Baker, the authority director of finance. These customers will see a new rate of about $228 per quarter, which is every three months, and deferred payments may be made at the front office on Hepburn Street.
