#HeavyBest - Thou One of the best albums, as far as us doomers are concerned, to emerge this year from the swampy backwaters of Baton Rouge, Louisiana is THOUs Heathen (2014). True story: I once got fire ants in my pants while posing for a picture in front of something during a family trip. Must have been 11 at the time. Why we had stopped at Baton Rouge Im not sure, but Ill never forget the stinging embarrassment of having to strip down to my tidy whities in front of everyone to brush off these pesky little buggers. Ok, how did we get off on that subject? Thou. Thats right, we were talking about how Heathen just kind of sneaks up on you like little ants crawling up your legs and then sends pulses of electric soundwaves coursing through your veins! Give it a shot, even if the more contemplative doom (some would say funeral, which is a misnomer in the case of Thou) isnt normally your thing. Itll cast its spell on you.
