Hebrews 10:24-25: And let us consider one another to provoke -stir up- one another unto love and to good works: 25) Not forsaking the assem-bling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more as ye see the day approaching. Many feel they can make it without regularly attending a Holy-Ghost filled, gospel-preaching church. They come to the church to appease their con-science, but do not allow themselves to come within the grasp of the Holy Spirit so he can convict them of their sin, and bring them into the service of the kingdom. In Gen. 8:6, Noah sent forth a raven to bring him some news of the earths condition during the flood. The raven went to and fro, which, according to Matthew Henrys Commentary in the Hebrew phrase means going forth and returning. That is, it flew about returning to the ark for rest, but probably did not go in it where it could be fed & cared for, but rested upon the ark, outside of Noahs grasp. It was content with eating the carrion - the dead carcases - from the waters. This gave Noah little satisfaction, so he sent forth a dove, which returned unto Noah into the ark. The dove came unto Noah and was fed, nourished and taken care of. After 7 days, he sent her out again, & in the evening, the dove came in to him with an olive leaf in her mouth. The third time the dove was sent forth, it did not come unto him any more. This let Noah know what the state of the flood and the earth was. Many people, like the raven come to the church, but do not receive the spiritual food the House of God has to offer. They are content with the dead things of the world or their own desires to satisfy them. As a result, they are not profitable to Gods kingdom. However, those who come to Gods House to pray, worship & praise, hear & receive the Word of God, and edify one another as well as being edified will not only thrive in their spiritual walk, but will also greatly benefit the body of Christ, & be effective in Gods work outside of the church. Because no man is an island, we need the church, and the church needs us! Remember the banana - when it left the bunch, it got skinned!
