Hebrews 10:35-39 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. Our confidence is not self-confidence, but confidence in the promises of God through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Since God raised Jesus from the dead, He will also raise us, change us, judge and reward us. If in this life, we, as Christians, shrink back and deny the Christ, He will deny us before the Father in judgment (cf. Matthew 10:32-33). It is only through our continual confession of the Christ, in word and deed, that we will be found pleasing to God and receive the glory prepared for the children of God.
