Hebrews 3:12-15 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” The design for the church is to work out our salvation together. On the table today we have the “sinful, unbelieving heart”, encouraging one another every day, and holding to our “original conviction firmly to the very end”. An unbelieving heart is most likely already hardened, and is susceptible to all sorts of deception. The thing is that we’re commanded to love one another. If one person is struck with a seed of unbelief, the only way to address that unbelief through love. 1 Corinthians 12 stays many things about being united as the body of Christ, and the value of diversity portrayed in serving one another with different gifts. Then the chapter ends with, “And yet I show you a more excellent way”. The more excellent way is love. (1 Cor. 13) Lord God, help our unbelief! Teach us to truly love one another, as You love us.
