Hebrews 9:12 says, “Jesus offered one sacrifice”—it was sufficient for sins, forever—“He sat down at the right hand of God.” That means the work was finished. He said, “Abba, its over. Its complete. Sin is paid for. We are now in the legal position before God called sanctified; we are objects of the pleasure of God. That is sometimes referred to as positional sanctification. But we will not have sanctification in our every-day behavior until we know our legal position of sanctification, our new position in Christ. In our identity, though we struggle to do the will of God, we are loved by God. We are lovers of God who still struggle with sin. When we come before the Lord, we say, “Forgive me for my sin. Jesus, Your blood has cleansed me. I have repented. Thus I’m coming as a beloved, enjoyed friend of God. Thats who I am.”
