Heer Saleti The purpose of Prophet was ordained for “Yu’allimuhum al-kitaba wa al-hikmata” (= to teach them the Book and the wisdom thereof). This is the central theme of Chapter Al Jummah Sura al jumah starts with the divine attributes, for which the whole universe is performing the obligation of “Tasbeeh”:- “Whatever is there in heavens and on earth performs “tasbeeh” to the Lord, the Highest, the Dominant and the Wise.” What does it mean that the Universe is performing “Tasbeeh” for the Lord? We never witness any lip-service from the creation, instead everything is acting steadfastly upon the physical laws imposed. The meaning of tasbee should be clear that the whole universe is running under divine commandments. Verse no2 states:- “It is He who appointed Rusool from other than people of the book who recites unto them His Verses, evolves them and teaches them the Book and the wisdom behind it. And that they earlier were in evident transgression”. A messenger was appointed to bring the people of Arabia under a divine discipline. Through these commandments it was achieved to raise their eminence, dismiss old doctrines and train them with a divine guidance in order to lead them to development It means that the “tasbeeh” every atom of this universe is performing, is also conveyed to the humanity through al-Kitab. “…And Messenger was also appointed among those others who have not joined them yet since He is the Dominant, the wise. It is His blessings that He bestows upon those who come up to His prescribed standards, and verily, He is the most exalted one”. After mentioning the “tasbeeh” of the universe and the Book, people of the book are referred to as an example, saying that they were also given “the Taurah” and that they treated the Taurah just as a donkey carries a load on its back. Surely that was the example of a nation who forged divine Verses…. After their quote, the Quran is again turinign to momineens “O believers when you are called on the day of general gathering (or on a Friday), then do “Sa’ee” (meaning, to make efforts, to do the running around, to work hard) for the “Zikr” of God, viz., for God’s commandments, and give up your preoccupations/trade. If you follow the essence of this command, it will be good for you”. “So, when Salaat is decided upon, spread around the land and look for Allalh’s blessings, remind people about Allah’s commandments so that you may prosper”. Please note that believers are being directed through these Verses to give up all their preoccupations in order to meet the goals. When Salaat is agreed upon, i.e., when you have made decisions according to divine commandments, scatter around the land and look for Allah’s blessings. Remember the divine commandments more and more so that a welfare oriented society comes into existence. “When these people witness some trading or a pastime, they slip away to that and leave you alone. Tell them whatever your God has, is much superior than your pastime and your trading. And it is Allah who is the best Provider”. note, if the Salaat were Namaaz or an individual act of creating contact with God, we can’t believe that the companions could “slip away” to their pastime or their trade, leaving the Prophet behind alone. How is it possible that the prophet is standing there for namaz or to lead into a spiritual individual contact between the people and god, but they suddenly vanished and left prophet alone? On the jummah salaat, “Friday prayer” This meeting is not for a prayer individual contact between individual and God, these meetings are held for the establishment of Salaat / divine discipline. Which is why the words used about them was “iza qudhiyat as-Salaat”, meaning, “When Salaat is decided upon”. Qudhiyat is the passive verb, Salaat is ‘naaib al-faa’il’ (the object), meaning “Salaat is decided upon”. So no matter how long these meetings last, it is clarified that these meetings are more important than trade or your pastime summary of what we until now have gathered 1) First the surah described describing “Tasbeeh” by the universe, 2) Then the responsibility of the Prophet of the teaching and purifying (tazkiyah) through divine commandments, 3) Then a society’s example is given which was forging the divine commandments. 4) And in the end, Momineens were advised to abandon trade and make efforts to establish the divine discipline whenever they were called towards Salaat. The Salaat they are invited to establish, is the same obligation of the Salaat * which the universe is also carrying out and * which was required by the Ahl Kitab, * which is related to Allah’s remembrance, and, * which Quran defines as divine commandments It is clear that those societies that those societies that treated divine commandments just as a donkey bears a load, they actually falsified/denied the commands. The same mistake is not to be commited, the prophet is among you and whenever he may call towards Salaat, the divine teaching, you must not hesitate. Salaat is an ESTABLISHMENT of divine order to bring prosperity to the society, to provide and maintain human rights,,,, 2:176
