Heexal Dennis Marshall is my first born son and today is his second birthday. In his short time here he has taught me much. His commitment to my growth is amazing. Every day brings new challenges and new joys and new discoveries of things which I have often taken for granted and he guides me with much love and patience. He was born with a Nuu-chah-nulth name which he will grow into. He was later given a Nuu-chah-nulth name which he will wear until he grows into his name which waits for him. He has a Tsimshian name which reminds him of who he is and we call him this. He has a little brother who will teach him much and who will learn much from him. He has an older sister who cares for him with the love a chims has for their young. He has a mother who has loved him every moment of every day since before his birth. He has a father who knows that there is much more to life than this span of it. He has grandparents to enjoy and bring joy to. He has uncles and aunties who love and nurture him. He has cousins who will learn the world with him and share their perspectives so he may see another pint of view and in turn share his so learns the value of trust and love and family. His name is Heexal Dennis Marshall and he has other names waiting for him. Some we will give him, some he will earn. He is my son and he is 2 today. I love him with everything I am.
