Heidi “Ho” Boliek BSN RN, On Monday, July 21st, 2014, went to be with the angels. She was a woman who was loved by many and will be truly missed not only for her kind heart, but for her willingness to help others, and her ability not to judge, but to just care. We were first blessed with her smile on November 17th, 1963 when she was born in Hickory, North Carolina. She spent most of her childhood here with family, until moving clear across the country to begin the next phase of her life in Beaverton, Oregon where she is still remembered as an amazing athlete at the high school. After finishing high school, she then decided to uproot again and leave the rain behind, moving to sunny and dry Arizona where she lived out the rest of her life. After working as an aide in the physical therapy department of a hospital, Heidi knew she wanted more, and travelled “Up the Hill” to Flagstaff Arizona where she made new, lasting friends, and worked hard to get her BSN RN at Northern Arizona University. She eventually came back down to the heat, and came to the valley to work as a school nurse, taking care of kids. She was always great with kids. Somehow Heidi had an amazing ability to comfort them and make them laugh at the same time. After a few years, Heidi decided to take her skills to the juvenile department of corrections where she worked as a nurse, giving hope and care to those who might have walked a different path. But no matter what path these young people had taken, Heidi was willing to accept them no matter what they had done and give them the best care she could, along with a dose of compassion. Many people know Heidi over the past 30 years for her athletic abilities on the softball field, winning awards and honors with every team she played on, whether it be her women’s travel teams, her co-ed teams, or her church league team, Heidi was the star, even though she always wanted to steer away from the accolades. She just loved the purity of the game, and the purity of some of the relationships she was able to make with her teammates and coaches over the years. But those who will miss Heidi, her laugh and big hugs most is her family. Parents Arnold and Sandra. Her Sister Beth, Brothers Scott and Kevin. Neices and Nephews Steven, Michael, Kayla, Sarah and Sierra. She will be missed dearly yet we know she is well cared for in Heaven.
