Helenas been adopted! Early 2014, this sweet, gorgeous, DEAF Akita-Dor (Akita/Labrador) showed up in the Sonoma County shelter and she had such an amazing temperament, she quickly became a shelter staff favorite. We reached out to our sister rescue, Angel Dogs Foundation Deaf Dog Ranch, and they agreed to help her learn hand signals and find her the RIGHT home. Well, they did! Here is Helena with her new Mommy, and in her new home. Thank you to everyone who helped Helena get to this day: Sonoma County Shelter, esp. Shirley Zindler and Edward Kimball; Kristy Frederick-Jennings, Rescuer Extraordinaire; Darrel Weeden who donated his time and plane to personally fly Helena from Nor Cal to So Cal in style (yes, she sat in the back seat of his 4-seater plane harnessed in!); Everyone who donated towards Helenas travel expenses (fuel for plane, etc.) and of course, Lisa and Mark Tipton of Angel Dogs Deaf Dogs Foundation.
