Helicina neritella (Lamarck, 1801) [+ reducta Wagner, 1901] - TopicsExpress

Helicina neritella (Lamarck, 1801) [+ reducta Wagner, 1901] 13.7mm. The nominate form of this species is found throughout Jamaica, but in isolated populations around the more westerly parishes is found this larger form with little to no bands around the body whorl. The range of color from almost pure white to this dark maroon colored shell is a common character of the species, that is, amazing variation of color and pattern. This specimen was found in the south west corner of Trelawny Parish. Photo: Richard L. Goldberg © 2014.
