Helicopter Crashes Near Downtown Wichita Falls Wichita Falls, Texas- At 1:56am the City of Wichita Falls Fire Department responded to a call for a downed helicopter at the intersection of 10th and Grace, an area located just west of downtown Wichita Falls. The aircraft, a Bell 206 LongRanger III, is operated by Air Evac Lifeteam, an air ambulance service headquartered in Missouri. The aircraft was on approach from an outlying community to the Air Evac Lifeteam 34 base located at 1610 10th Street, just one block north of United Regional Hospital. On board were three crew members and one patient. At this time the condition of those on board is not being released pending notification of family members. First Responders on scene include the Wichita Falls Fire and Police Departments, Department of Public Safety, Wichita and Archer County Sheriff’s Offices and Sheppard Air Force Base. Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expect to be on scene by daybreak. The area surrounding the crash site is closed to all traffic for a four block radius. Access to United Regional is open.
