Hello - I have recently joined the Group as my husband was - TopicsExpress

Hello - I have recently joined the Group as my husband was diagnosed with MSA two years ago in Denmark, where we live. We have recently had some discussions with his doctor at the hospital, since the symptoms he has and the development of the illness just does not fit with the information I am reading and hearing from other patients. In particular, the messages from this Group confirm my suspicions. The doctor now says she agrees with us that this is probably not MSA, but she still sticks to the diagnosis of a Parkinson disease. However she says it makes no difference since there is no real treatment, and all illnesses are equally bad. His symptoms are very poor walking abilities now and he is very tired and his speech is slurred. He has breathing problems, but he has a lung defect and was a heavy smoker until 5 years ago. so even without a Parkinson disease, he would have lung problems. Does anyone have any ideas how we could reach a correct diagnosis, has anyone had a similar experience? I am wondering if it is a different neurological disease altogether and whether different treatment may be able to help him. Can anyone please help....!
