Hello All, Id like to share my research thesis with you and your friends. The Recent Science, Chemistry & Ethics of Water Fluoridation is the title and Ive posted it on wordpress. I would greatly appreciate it if you could like the first few posts, and I welcome and encourage your constructive criticism, as I will be sending this link to several professors at prospective schools for graduate school admissions. Although the fluoride battle is dormant here in Portland, there are still 200 million Americans and beyond who drink fluoridation chemicals in their public water. So, if youre curious about the details, I encourage you to peruse through it, and if you feel so inclined, please share. For those of you who are not familiar with the subject, I guarantee it will blow your mind. Below, youll find the abstract. Please check it out! Thank you so much! And wish me luck! “The Truth,” alluded Silent Spring, “seldom mentioned but there for anyone to see,” is that the Center for Disease Control has found 41% of children1 have, what the World Health Organization has defined as a disease2 caused by ingesting excessive fluoride. Cumulatively, via toothpaste, drinking water and insecticide residues on foods, two out of every five are diagnosed with fluorosis. This is one of the public health implications of adding a chemical to the public drinking water. Several paradigm-shifting findings catalyzed my venture into the health effects of this chemical. About ten potential health risks ranging from endocrine disruption3 to neurotoxicity4 to cancer5 discerned by a 2006 systematic review, prompted three out of 12 members of the National Research Council to sign a “Professional Statement to End Water Fluoridation.”6 This lends some credence to Portland, Oregon who voted No in 2013, and to the Israeli Supreme Court who just rescinded mandatory fluoridation earlier this year. “What we found is that we’ve gone with the status quo with fluoride for too long… many questions are unsettled and we need to take a fresh look,” stated the Chairmen of the National Research Council in a 2008 interview.7 As a result of the 2006 NRC, federal public health agencies reduced the “optimal” fluoride concentration promoted as “safe and effective” since the 1950s, by 42%.8 This essay presents the recent science rendering questions unsettled so that the 200 million American citizens who live downstream from fluoridation chemicals9 can take a fresh look at the ethics of risk as it relates to reverence of life. cleanwater0.wordpress/
