Hello All – Here is the latest update with Orlando. Orlando’s lungs have progressed to a point where it is unlikely he will be able to support breathing on his own once the respirator is removed. The Sparrow medical team has approached this challenge in as many different ways possible however the damage is substantial and permanent. Per Orlando’s wishes, the team will not implement any extensive measures of life support once he is removed from the respirator. Knowing all of the above facts, the family will wait until the chest tube must be pulled. The plan is to do so on Friday evening, June 21st. If you would like to visit, standard visiting hours are from 11 am – 8 pm. Given the current situation, those hours are not enforced to accommodate those who need to visit at other times. (Location information below) He is in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The staff in the CICU are extremely accommodating but please understand that they may need to limit the number of people who are visiting at a time. Please continue your prayers, gestures of love and good thoughts. If you are unable to visit but would like to relay a message to Orlando, please send it to me directly (text, e-mail, facebook) and I will personally read it to him. As always – I am available to those who wish to speak with someone and help find some peace with the journey we have ahead of us. You will find my contact information below.
