Hello Alumni, I wanted to share a few thoughts about yesterday’s visit with Coach Brannon’s family. They all just as humbled, welcoming and nice as Coach Brannon. They welcomed Judy Davis Carroll and me with open arms when we arrived. They were so honored to see the number of Astros that came by to pay their respects and share the stories of how Coach Brannon touched their lives as a teacher and as a coach. They were also amazed at the number of you who posted kind words on his obituary guestbook page. legacy/guestbooks/atlanta/charles-brannon-condolences/171765549?cid=full#sthash.0H0vMWEk.dpbs One thing was very evident to me. And that was that he loved his Astros. He loved Frederick Douglass High School. He loved Douglass so much that 8 years ago when he mad plans for this day he requested 3 things. 1) His Glasses be put on him, because that is how everyone knew him, 2) His Georgia Tech Tie and 3) His Frederick Douglass High School lapel pin. All were on him as he lay peacefully in his casket. He did ask for a fourth thing his beloved baseball cap, but his wife ruled that out. I will post pictures of the table set up to display his time honored trophies and awards as well as some pictures from the scrap book that was set up at a later date. He was quite an amazing man. We were also graced to see another Douglass teaching legend as we walked out, Mrs. Long.
